Be a Scientist! Curriculum

Iridescent delivers one, five-week family science workshop (FSW) to each of its eight partner schools in Los Angeles every Spring. Iridescent-Los Angeles continued its collaboration with the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, who acted as a host site. Iridescent-New York offered its annual FSW at the New York Hall of Science with participants from two schools.

Spring 2013 Courses

We had a total of 275 children and 197 parents participate in our FSWs.

  • New York City: Electrical Engineering through Sustainable Design

We had a total of 510 participants, 449 from Los Angeles and 61 participants from New York City. Topics and elementary schools include:

  • Frank Del Olmo: Biomechanics of Dinosaurs
  • Betty Plasencia: Space Travel

  • Quincy Jones: Racecar Engineering
  • Western Avenue/National History Museum: Biomechanics of Dinosaurs
  • New York City: Electrical Engineering through Sustainable Design

FALL 2011 COURSES

In Fall 2011, we ran one, five-week family science workshop (FSW) for each of our eight partner schools in Los Angeles. Seven of the programs were run at the schools, while one was run at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles (NHM). NHM served as a school- host site and content partner with the Biomechanics of Dinosaurs course. We had a total of 863 participants.
